Fears over Sheil Hospital refuted by HSE

Fears that a multi million euro project at the Sheil Hospital in Ballyshannon would be deferred indefinitely and other hospital projects delayed or impacted negatively as a result of over runs at the National Children’s Hospital in Dublin were refuted by senior HSE officials at a special meeting in Ballyshannon last night.

The meeting which took place to discuss the future of the Sheil Hospital Project was attended by just over 50 people.

A statement received ahead of the meeting from John Hayes, the Chief Officer for Community Healthcare Organisation confirmed that the HSE are proceeding with the upgrading of all Community Hospitals in Donegal and the process to select a contractor for the Sheil Hospital is currently underway and it’s expected construction will start in September of this year.
