Sligo tourism network wins gold at LAMA awards

A Sligo tourism network has won a gold award for Best Tourism Initiative at National Community and Council Awards.

South and West Sligo Tourism has been recognised at the event for directly increasing visitor numbers to the area and improving visitor experience, while also boosting business in the region.

The initiative is a voluntary run network, which puts measures in place to boost tourism in the largely rural area.

Known as the LAMA Awards, the event recognises achievements of projects from local community and county councils, partnerships.

Chair of South and West Sligo Tourism Paul Taylor, says the award recognises the hard work the committee puts into the network to make it a success.
