MP says community in shock after murder of Sligo man



An MP says the local community is in shock following the murder of a Sligo man in Co Tyrone at the weekend.

Police discovered the body of 30-year-old Pat Ward, who is originally from Sligo but had moved to the area recently, in the McCrea Park area of Clogher on Saturday morning.

A 33-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A police forensic team carried out a detailed examination of the murder scene over the weekend.

Det Chief Insp Peter McKenna, from the PSNI’s major investigation team appealed to anyone who had information or who was in the McCrea Park area on Friday night or early Saturday morning to come forward or who witnessed any unusual activity to bring it forward to the police.

Speaking to Ocean Fm’s Therese Madden, MP Michelle Gildernew says people are stunned by the brutally of the murder.
