There are calls for an all-weather lifeboat to be stationed at the RNLI base at Rosses Point in Sligo.
The new lifeboat would be able to travel further distances than the existing inland lifeboats and would allow for more rescues to be carried out.
More safety features would also be available on the boat and it would be capable of higher speeds.
Cllr Sinead Maguire is asking Sligo County Council to support an application for the boat.
