Hundreds turn out for Easkey GAA homecoming

Saturday’s All-Ireland junior club final may have ended in deep disappointment for Easkey’s gaelic footballers but that didn’t stop the local community from turning out in force to greet the defeated All-Ireland finalists when they arrived home to Easkey village on Sunday afternoon.

The Seablues were decisively beaten by an impressive Beaufort side from Kerry in Saturday’s decider at Croke Park, on a final scoreline of 3-17 to 0-5.

But lcoals in the west Sligo area gathered in their hundreds to pay tribute to the team which had taken Easkey and Sligo on a remarkable All-Ireland club championship journey.

Listen to Ocean FM Sports reporter Cathal Mullaney describe the scenes at Sunday’s emotional homecoming.
