Coast Guard warns of storm dangers on sea and near coasts

The Coast Guard is calling on the general public and all mariners across the north west to heed the weather warning in place and to take appropriate action.

Those with smaller vessels in particular are asked to pay attention to the Status Orange Alert.

The general public is advised to be mindful of the risks on exposed areas especially piers, walkways and cliff areas.

Coast Guard Operations Manager Gerard O’ Flynn says high seas are expected.

Meanwhile the Coast Guard says the stormy weather should not be seem as a photo opportunity or as a time for taking selfies.

Gerard O’ Flynn says people need to look after their personal safety.
