An additional €1.2m has been announced this morning for improvements to local private roads in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
The biggest portion of that, €677,000 is going to Donegal, with €256,000 for Sligo and €250,000 for Leitrim.
The roads and laneways that will benefit usually lead to people’s homes, businesses and farms, and are not normally maintained by the county council.
Sligo/Leitrim Fine Gael Deputy Tony McLoughlin says there has been much interest in the funding scheme, known as the Local Improvement Scheme, in rural areas.
