Elderly woman in Leitrim robbed in her home after collecting pension

Members of rural communities are being encouraged to be extremely vigilant as regards the movement of strange vehicles in their area.

The request for people to be alert was issued at joint policing committee meeting in Carrick-on-Shannon this week after the meeting was told how an elderly woman living outside of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim was robbed recently after returning to her home from collecting her pension.

It’s believed the woman’s were monitored prior to the robbery taking place.

Sinn Fein Councillor Brendan Barry raised the item at this week’s joint policing committee meeting.

He’s urging people to record any suspicious activities that they witness particularly in rural areas.
