Seperate inquires sought for Donegal mother and baby homes



There are calls for an investigation which is examining two mother and baby homes in County Donegal to be split into two inquiries.

 

A group called ‘Irish First Mothers’, wants The Commission of Investigation in Mother and Baby Homes to be divided into historical investigations and redress considerations.

 

The group consisting of over 70 women who were in Ireland’s Mother and Baby Homes say the commission has enough evidence to issue an interim report on compensation findings.

 

The institutions in Donegal being examined as part of the investigation include The Castle in Newtowncunningham and St Joseph’s County Home, Stranorlar.

 

Rosemary Adie says there’s an urgency about starting  the process of redress as soon as possible:
