New library building essential in Sligo to enhance future plans

Sligo councillors are insisting a new library building is essential if the library service’s plans for the next four years is to be successful.

Funding is currently being applied for under the Urban Regeneration Development Fund for a feasability study for a new library on the Mall in Sligo.

The project would be a joint effort between Sligo County Council and IT Sligo.

A decision on Sligo’s application is expected within the coming months.

Sligo County Librarian Donal Tinney has been telling Ocean FM News how important it is that approval is obtained for the proposed new library.
