Sligo’s Jonathan Dolan wins Irish senior badminton title



Jonathon Dolan from the Sligo City badminton club won the men’s singles title at the Irish national senior championships (FZ Forza Irish Nationals), held at Baldoyle badminton centre in Dublin on Sunday.

Dolan beat Raphoe’s Joshua Magee in the final.

Dolan beat his doubles partner David Walsh in the semi-final en route to winning the singles title. He then teamed up with Walsh to secure the men’s doubles title and cap off a memorable weekend.

The Calry man won his first national senior singles title back in 2014 when he beat another Magee, Sam, in the final that year. Injury had hampered Jonathan’s career in recent years. Listen to his interview with Ocean FM Sport here:
