Claim that child protection programme ‘focuses more on paperwork than protection’

A member of the primary teachers union from Donegal says the new child protection programme is more focused on paperwork than protection.

Child Protection and Safeguarding Inspections are to commence from today at primary schools around the country.

The union wants the start of the scheme postponed until teachers have received training on the new guidelines.

Sine Friel, Ballyshannon, is an official with the INTO.
