Sligo women’s footballers begin new season

Sligo ladies gaelic footballers will begin their Lidl National Football League Division 3 campaign this Saturday when they host Meath at Cloonacool GAA Park (throw-in: 2pm).

Sligo were relegated from Division 2 last season – but regrouped under then manager Paddy Henry to make an impressive championship run to the All-Ireland intermediate championship semi-finals before losing out narrowly to eventual winners Tyrone.

Now under the guidance of new joint managers John O’Hara and David Curran, Sligo begin the new season with the visit of the royal county to south Sligo on Saturday.

For the third time in her intercounty career, St Farnan’s clubwoman Jacqui Mulligan will captain Sligo for 2019. She gave Ocean FM Sport her assessment of the county’s prospects for the season ahead.
