IT Sligo suffer heavy Sigerson Cup defeat

IT Sligo senior men’s gaelic footballers were dumped out of the Sigerson Cup on Wednesday afternoon when they suffered a 26-point defeat against IT Tralee at John Mitchell’s GAA park in Tralee.

The visitors were missing a number of players through injury, but IT Tralee dominated this game from start to fish, winning on a final scoreline of 6-20 to 1-9.

The result came just six days after Benji Drummond’s team had run the Garda College close in the first round proper (1-15 to 1-10).

Wednesday’s ‘backdoor’ game offered the Institute a chance to progress in this year’s competition but, on the day, they were outplayed by their Kerry opponents.
