KFO seek Brexit mitigation measures

The Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation is calling for regulations for fisheries to be made clear in the event of a hard Brexit.

The producers organisation is appealing to the Government to ensure measures are in place to protect the sector which is worth 1.15 billion euro to the Irish economy.

Ireland’s two biggest fisheries, mackerel and prawns are massively dependent on access to UK waters.

KFO Chief Executive, Seán O’Donoghue says the stakes are quite simply too high for this to be ignored any longer.
