The Ursuline college senior girls gaelic footballers won the Sligo LGFA post primary schools cup on Thursday after beating Coola Post Primary School by 1-16 to 1-5 at Kent Park.
The Ursuline led by 1-6 to 0-3 at the interval against a Coola side which had beaten St Attracta’s of Tubbercurry in the semi-final.
In Ulster, Donegal county vocational boys champions Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town, are through to semi-finals of the Ulster Colleges Markey Cup after a one-point win (0-11 to 1-7) over Loreto of Colereaine in Strandhill.
In third level football, IT Sligo senior men’s gaelic footballers lost their opening match of the 2019 Sigerson Cup in Templemore, going down to Garda College by 1-15 to 1-10. The Institute will get a second chance to progress in the competition next week. They’ll play the losers of the Ulster University v IT Tralee clash in a backdoor game.
