€473,600 in Sports Capital Grants for Sligo, Leitrim & Donegal



Sporting and community groups across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal have received a total of €473,600 from the latest round of Sports Capital Grants, announced by the Minister for Sport, Shane Ross on Thursday.

€7 million euro is being awarded to projects nationally which had previously been deemed invalid under the 2017 round of the programme. These applicants were invited to re-submit corrected applications.

The successful clubs include Ballygawley Celtic soccer club in Sligo which is being allocated €68,000 for a new astroturf pitch facility. St John’s Community Development Association is receiving €64,000 for the development of a new sports pitch and multi-games area.

Annaduff GAA Club is the sole Leitrim applicant to receive an allocation (€40,000) in this latest round of funding.

The list of allocations for Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal is as follows:

SLIGO

  • Ballygawley Celtic FC (New Astroturf pitch & lighting)  €68,200
  • Easkey Community Council Ltd (Gym Equipment)  €4,200
  • Sligo County Council (Fairgreen Park jogging & cycleways) €30,500
  • St John’s Community Development Assoc (Sports pitch & multi-games area) €64,700
  • St Molaise Gaels GAA Club (Pitch redevelopment) €49,200

LEITRIM

  • Annaduff GAA Club (Multi-user games area) €40,000

DONEGAL

  • Four Masters GAA Club (Pitch renewal) €21,600
  • Cappry Rovers AFC (Astro development – Ballybofey) €95,400
  • Donegal County Council (Stranorlar fitness trail) €14,700
  • Illies Golden Glove Boxing Club (Development programme) €14,600
  • IRD Milford Ltd (Outdoor gym) €5,900
  • Letterkenny Golf & Social Club (Course development equipment) €21,600
  • Quigley’s Point Swifts FC (Pitch development) €67,400.
