Loss of Turkish market a blow to beef farmers

The much-feared no-deal Brexit has not yet materialised but a Sligo/Leitrim TD says beef farmers have already been hit a major blow.

Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny says that’s because of the decision by Turkey to suspend live imports of cattle.

He says it’s the loss of major export option for farmers.

He’s now urging the government to urgently explore alternative markets for the export of Irish cattle.
