Fourteen groups in the North West to benefit from the Sports Capital Programme



Fourteen groups throughout the north west are to benefit from grants under the Sports Capital Programme.

Eight of them are in Donegal, getting amounts ranign from about €6,000 to €95,000. They are Cappry Rovers in Ballybofey, the county council for a fitness trail in Stranorlar, Drumkeerin United Football Club, Four Masters GAA Club, Illies Golden Gloves in Buncrana, Milford Park Development, Letterkenny Golf and Social Club, and Quigley’s Point Swifts Football Club.

Five projects will benfit in Sligo; they are Ballygawley Celtic, Easkey Community Council, St Molaise Gaels, St John’s Community Development Association, and the Fairgreen in Sligo town.

Annaduff GAA Club in Leitrim is to get €40,000.

Sligo Independent Councillor Marie Casserly says some of the groups who will receive money this time had been unsuccessful in the past.

Thomas Walsh, a community and Fine Gael activist from Ballygawley, Co Sligo, says the grants are a recognition of the work of local groups, among them his local Football Club.
