Government urged to reintroduce decentralisation to north west

There are new calls for the government to reintroduce its decentralisation programme so as to bring more government and civil service jobs to the north west.

Government department and agency jobs have been moved out of Dublin in the past but all areas did not benefit . . . and some towns, such as Tubbercurry in south Sligo, eventually lost departments when people working in them were moved elsewhere.

Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor Jerry Lundy says now is the ideal time to look at decentralisation again.
