Campbell aiming for Independent candidates in Donegal to have a ‘coherent strategy’

A Donegal councillor who’s resigning from his seat to concentrate on getting more Independent candidates elected says he hopes to have such candidates in each electoral area in the coming local elections.

John Campbell, who’s been a councillor for almost eight years, was coopted to replace Thomas Pringle when he be game a TD in 2011, unseating Tanaiste Mary Coughlan, of Fianna Fail.

Campbell, from Drumnaherk, Mountcharles, was elected in his own right in 2014, and is one of 10 Independents on Donegal County Council.

He says there are many different Independents but in his new role, he hopes to put together a coherent picture of what certain Independents stand for.
