Sligo restaurant owner warns of difficult year ahead for North West tourism

A Sligo restaurateur says the tourism sector in the north west is facing difficult trading conditions in 2019.

The Government’s decision to increase VAT from 9% to 13.5 % and the uncertainty of Brexit is expected to have serious implications for the sector in the year ahead.

An event called the ‘Tourism Space LIVE’ conference is due to take place at Thomond Park in Limerick on Thursday, January 17th, and will highlight some of the issues facing the industry.

Restaurateur and North West Spokesperson for the Restaurants Association of Ireland Anthony Gray is due to speak at event.

He says it’s an uncertain time for business owners.
