69 people waiting for a bed in North West hospitals

There’s an increase in the number of patients waiting on trolleys for beds in the two main hospitals in the north west today.

There’s 43 in Letterkenny University Hospital and 26 in Sligo University Hospital, a total of 69.

That compares to a total of 67 yesterday, 36 in Letterkenny and 31 in Sligo.

Overall throughout the country today, there are 583 people waiting on trolleys — and that’s expected to increase because of the onset of the flu season.
