Victory for Donegal in Newry

Declan Bonner’s Donegal made it two wins from two in the McKenna Cup on Sunday  with a 1-17 to 0-10 win over Down in Newry.

Donegal hit the front in the first minute and didn’t look back from there- leading 0-10 to 0-03 at the break with Man of The Match Martin McElhinney to the fore.

Further points in the second-half from McElhinney and a goal from Caolán MacGonagaill saw Bonner’s men run out comfortable winners and set up a Section A decider against Cavan in Ballybofey on Wednesday night.

The only downside of an othewise comprehensive victory was a serious looking injury for Donegal’s wing forward Eoin McHugh with the Allianz League opener just three weeks away.
