Councillor calls for local suicide prevention groups to be treated fairly in funding allocations

A Leitrim councillor is calling for local groups working to prevent suicide to be given equal treatment as national organisations when it comes to funding.

Many local groups are made up of volunteers working in their local areas.

And some of them receive little, if any, government funding.

Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon is now calling on Leitrim County Council to ask the health minister, the HSE and the National Office for Suicide Prevention about their policies and practices for funding regional suicide prevention groups.
