A Jack B Yeats painting fetched the highest paid price for a work of art in Ireland in 2018.
The piece called ‘Pilot, Sligo River’ was sold at auction by Whyte’s in October for a price of 370,000 euro.
The painting is a portrait of a bearded figure in peaked cap and double-breasted jacket, against the backdrop of Rosses Point.
Another Yeats painting, ‘The Man With The Wrinkled Face’, made 245,000 euro in November, while his ‘Morning Glory’ piece made 175,000 euro in May.
In total four Jack B Yeats paintings made it into the top 10 list of paintings sold last year.
