House prices in the North West have increased over the past year



House prices in the North West have increased compared to this time last year.

Sligo has seen the average price to buy a new home increase by 5.5%, in Donegal they rose by 4.4% and Leitrim sees the largest increase at 12%.

The figures come from the latest Daft.ie report that shows the average buying price of a house in Sligo is now €138,000, €143,000 in Donegal and €134,000 in Leitrim.

Across the Connacht/Ulster region, house prices are 48% lower than what they were in 2008 and the North West region remains the cheapest are in the country while Leitrim is consistently the cheapest county in the country to buy a new home.

The Real Estate Alliance says prices could increase by 4.2% next year, depending on Brexit, and spokesperson Barry MacDonald, says there are some particular focus points.
