Unwillingness of banks to negotiate with customers is impacting their mental health

A Donegal election candidate says, while she condemns the violence surrounding an eviction in Co Roscommon last week, she doesn’t agree with the manner in which the family were removed from their home.

During a raid on the repossessed property in Strokestown, 8 security men were injured, at least 6 vehicles were burnt out and a dog was killed.

Ballyshannon community activist, Valerie McNulty, says she has been attending the courts over the past four years in an effort to help families facing evictions.

Ms McNulty says the banks are not willing to negotiate and this is having a serious impact on people’s mental health.
