Positive local outcome to council of fisheries

The most challenging negotiations that Irish fisheries ever faced concluded this morning when the Council of Fisheries concluded in Brussels.

The eventual outcome has been described as “generally positive” by the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation.

The potential early closure of a large number of fisheries has been avoided, while there will be greater opportunities for fishermen in the North West with an increase of 30% in Whitefish quota.

Sean O Donoughe from the Killybegs Fishermen Organisation has been outlining to Ocean FM some of the many positive aspects from a north west prospective.
