Donegal defeat Sligo in Senior football challenge



Eoin McHugh and Jason McGee made their senior intercounty returns for Donegal on Sunday as Declan Bonner’s side recorded a comfortable  victory over an experimental Sligo team at Colaiste Ailigh in Letterkenny. Goals in either half from Ciaran Diver and Jamie Brennan helped them n to a 2-19 to 1-0 success.

Sligo substitute Adrian Cummins goaled in the second half for the Yeats county. Veteran forward Adrian Marren chipped in with two points for a Sligo side in their first outing under new manager Paul Taylor.

Former Mayo manager Stephen Rochford was on the sideline today in his first game as part of the Donegal backroom team for 2019.

Both teams focus will soon switch to competitive football with their respective McKenna cup and Connacht FBD campaigns. Donegal start of with the visite of Queen’ University to Ballybofey on December 30th, while Sligo will begin their FBD campaign in the new year when they travel to Roscommon on January 13th.
