€4.8m spent on agency staff at SUH



A Sligo councillor says the HSE is spending ‘staggering’ amounts of money on agency staff because of the failure to deal with, what he calls, a ‘recruitment and retention crisis.’

Sinn Fein Councillor Chris Manus says that for the first nine months of this year, more than €4.8m was spent on agency staff at Sligo University Hospital, with a projection of €6m by the end of the year.

This was for agency doctors, nurses and other staff.
