Cllr calls for motor insurance costs for young people to be cut

Young people living in the north west are facing crippling motor insurance costs, which is affecting their chances of getting local jobs.

At yesterday’s Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of Leitrim Council, Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon called for an examination of the motor insurance industry and its premiums for young drivers.

The Drumkeerin based councillor says he has been told of instances where some young motorists have been quoted up to 8000 euro for motor insurance and up to 4000 euro to be included as a named driver on insurance policies.
