Sentence of nine years for attack, robbery of elderly man in Sligo town

A 51-year old man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for assaulting and robbing his elderly landlord in Sligo Town last June.

The victim, who was in his 80s, was left tied up after having been badly beaten.

He was not discovered for about two days.

The man’s wallet, bank card, house and car keys, as well as his vehicle, were taken.

At Sligo Circuit Court, Stefan Schaufler, with an address of River Road in Cartron Point, pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in prison, with six years suspended.
