Cllr says measures urgently needed to sustain the beef industry in the north west

Measures are urgently needed to sustain the beef industry in the north west.

That’s according to Cllr Michael Clarke, who is calling on the Minister for Agriculture to provide, what he describes, as real and concrete measures to ensure the future of the beef industry.

Speaking at a recent Sligo County Council meeting, the independent councillor called on Minister Michael Creed and the Government to scrap the Beef Genomics Programme.

Cllr Clarke says a real Beef Environmental Efficiency Scheme needs to be introduced in 2019.
