Medical reaction to HSE directive to staff on use of pet names for patients



The HSE has issued new guidelines to medical staff on the use of ‘pet’ names for patients, and insisted patients should only be referred to by their first name – so terms like ‘dear’, ‘love’ and ‘pet’ are no longer being accepted.
