Former Donegal TD seeks nomination for European elections

Former Donegal TD Niall Blaney is seeking to win a Fianna Fail nomination for the European Parliament elections.

Mr Blaney served as TD for the Donegal North East constituency from 2002 to 2011.

He has a long family history in politics with his grandfather, father and uncle all serving as TD’s.

He ran in the 2016 Seanad election narrowly missing out by three votes and also unsuccessfully contested the bi-election in the Seanad earlier this year.

Mr Blaney says his campaign will focus primarily on Brexit and regional development.
