Telesis machine, used to mark equipment, is in Collooney today

Combating rural theft remains a priority for the Gardaí

To help tackle crime, Sligo’s Telesis machine is making it’s way around the county so people can tag their equipment to prove it’s theirs in cases of theft.

The machine, which Sligo is only the second county to purchase one, uses a laser to etch a persons Eir Code onto their property which is then read to prove ownership.

Today the machine will be in the Teeling Centre, Collooney between 11am and 3pm.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy has the details.

Councillor Healy also says there will be other locations around the county in the new year.
