Sligo/Leitrim TD accuses Irish Rail of providing the North West with a ‘second rate service’

Irish Rail has been accused of providing a second rate service to the people of the north west.

Sligo/Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin highlighted long-time complaints about the Sligo/Dublin service at a Joint Oireachtas Committee hearing yesterday which was attended by Irish Rail Chief Executive Jim Meade.

In response Jim Meade denied a second-class was being provided on the Sligo/Dublin line.

He says part of the current problem is due to increasing demand, and that Irish Ra ill cannot immediately provide new carriages.
