Mickey Kearins scoring record to be honoured

Sligo GAA will mark the golden jubilee of Micheál Kearin’s scoring feat in the 1968 national football league this Friday evening, November 30th, at the county’s GAA Centre of Excellence in Scarden.

A plaque will be unveiled to commemorate kearin’s scoring tally of 2 goals and 125 points during the 1968 league campaign, which was a comfortable 31 points ahead of Down’s Sean O’Neill 12 goals and 64 points.

This was a tremendous accomplishment for a player from County Sligo who did not contest All-Ireland semi-finals or finals, and it showed the scoring ability, skill and fitness that Micheál Kearins brought to his game.
