Donegal campaigner fears US emigration Bill might leave Irish out

A Donegal emigrants campaigner is welcoming the passing of a bill in the US Congress that could give Irish citizens easier avenues to live and work in the United States.

The ‘E3 Bill’ was passed last Wednesday night and must now get a unanimous vote in the US Senate before it can become law.

The E3 Visa is seen as easier and cheaper for people to obtain compared to a traditional visa however it is currently only available to Australian citizens.

Michael McMahon is the Chairman of the Donegal based ‘Families of the Undocumented Irish in America’.

While he welcomes the passing of the bill, Mr McMahon says he is concerned that there was no mention of addressing the undocumented Irish.
