Kicking a fellow when he’s down – Levy on Leitrim’s vacant commercial premises is condemned

Leitrim’s councillors have backed a move to impose a 25% rates levy on vacant commercial premises in the county, which were previously exempt from such a charge. The CEO of the Council says something has to be done to address the commercial premises vacancy in the county, but Cllr Des Guckian has condemned the move as totally insensitive
