CEO of a leading fuel supplier in the North West says carbon taxes are leading to more emissions

The CEO of one of the north west’s leading fuel suppliers says carbon taxes in this country are leading to more emissions rather than reducing them.

Peter Leyden is head of Arigna Fuels, a market leader in providing clean, environmentally-friendly, smokeless fuels to the Irish and UK markets.

But he says carbon tax in this country is defeating its own purpose.

He was speaking to Ocean FM News after Taoiseach Leo Varadkar conceded earlier this week that households will have to pay more in carbon taxes over the coming years as part of the effort to meet international global warming targets.
