A Sligo/Leitrim TD says a new review of entitlements for those who reached pension age in or after 2012 will not result in their pensions being cut.
Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny says people have been confused about changes to pension arrangements.
However, he says the main point is that pensions will not be cut, they will be either increased or stay the same.
The review follows changes made in 2012 which affected people who might have had a gap in their contributions; these could have been women who remained at home for some years or people who were out of the country for a time.
Deputy Kenny says a review to recalculate pensions is expected to start in January.
