Leitrim anti-forestry group lodging appeal

The Save Leitrim Group yesterday lodged it’s first two appeals to the Forestry Appeals Committee in Portlaoise.

The Group, which is protesting at the amount of Sika Spruce plantations that are being planned for the county, will bring an additional 40 objections to the committee in the coming weeks.

Local Councillor Justin Warnock was one of ten members that travelled to yesterday’s hearing.

He expects the results of yesterday’s appeals to be made known within the next month.

Councillor Warnock also expressed concerns over the neutrality of the Appeals Committee.
