Concerns raised over delay in securing a permanent Cath Lab in Sligo

A Fine Gael Senator says he is concerned about the delay in acquiring a permanent Cath lab in Sligo University Hospital.

Senator Frank Feighan raised the issue in the Seanad with Minister of State for Disability Issues, Finian McGrath, who says he will take the matter directly to Health Minister Simon Harris.

Currently there is a mobile unit at the hospital with the only other options for patients in the region are to travel long distances to Galway or Dublin.

A National Review of Cardiac Services is taking place however it is not due to be completed until June 2019.

Senator Feighan says he would like to see the review process completed ‘sooner rather than later.’
