First telesis machine for the county to be launched in Grange this month

Sligo’s first telesis machine is to be launched in Grange before the end of the month.

The machine, which marks property by laser, is a joint operation by Sligo County Council and the Sligo Joint Policing Committee.

Sligo is only the second county in Ireland to purchase such equipment, which will be available to the public free of charge. The machine will put people’s postcodes on items from laptops to boats, so that in the event of it being stolen, it can be easily identified.

Sgt Jim Fox, Crime Prevention Officer for Sligo/ Leitrim explained about the machine to Ocean FM News.

Cllr Marie Casserly, who tabled a motion calling for the council to purchase the machine gave details of the launch which will be hosted by Grange and District Community Alert.
