A new joint public library between Sligo County Council and IT Sligo is to be examined.
Funding is being applied for under the Urban Regeneration Development Fund for a feasability study into the project.
The proposed joint venture would be located on the Mall.
Director of Services Dorothy Clarke told Sligo County Council that the study is based on both the needs of Sligo town and IT Sligo.
