Sligo Councillor calls on Minister to replace 48 jobs lost in Tubbercurry

A Sligo Councillor is calling on Minister Heather Humphries to replace the loss of 48 jobs in Tubbercurry as a matter of urgency.

Standing orders were suspended at this mornings meeting of Sligo County Council to allow Cllr Margaret Gormley to ask for support for the workers of the Basta factory who lost their jobs when it ceased operations last Thursday.

Cllr Gormley said the losses to the area are the same as thousands of job losses in Dublin.

gFianna Fail TD for Sligo/Leitrim Eamonn Scanlon believes Revenue could be involved.

Deputy Scanlon calls it a disgrace.
