Tourlestrane ladies gaelic footballers are the Connacht club junior champions for 2018 after a hard-fought 3-12 to 1-15 success over Naomh Anna Leitir Mór of Galway in Saturday’s provincial decider in Ballyhaunis.
The Sligo champions produced an excellent hour of football and had led by six points, 2-8 to 1-5, at half-time. They had to withstand a strong fightback from their Galway opponents in the closing quarter but, inspired by Player of the Match Katie Walsh, Tourlestrane finished strongly to win by three and secure a famous win.
