President Higgins visits North West region as election enters home stretch

President Michael D Higgins met with supporters in Carrick on Shannon this afternoon as the Presidential race enters the closing stages

As the Presidential campaign draws to a close, the president thanked local campaigners at the statue of local writer and poet Susan Langstaff Mitchell on the town’s main street.

Meanwhile he will shortly meet with supporters in Bundoran, County Donegal.

Local musician Sean Gallagher will perform for the President in the Hollyrood Hotel at 5.30pm.

Peter Casey says he’s spent less than 80 thousand euro on his Presidential campaign.

The former Dragon’s Den star says he spent 23 thousand on research, media training and consultancy.

Another 20 thousand was spent on printing costs with 18 thousand on travel and accommodation.
